I don’t think I’ve ever given a whole post to someone else’s story, but Greg Bluestein’s piece in today’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution on the shifting balance of power between Atlanna and Notlanna earns it. The story is here, though it may be behind the AJC’s paywall.

The best line in it comes from Rick Dent, who was once Zell Miller’s press secretary and has since worked as a strategist for both Democrats and Republicans: “If you think it’s a slam dunk for Democrats, think again. … That makes metro Atlanta and its suburbs the ultimate political battleground in Georgia, where neither party can take the region, or its voters, for granted.”

I’ve been noodling on a similar piece myself, but I doubt I can top this one. It’s as good a stage-setter as you’ll find, both for this fall’s elections and for how Georgia will be governed over the next several years.
